I started photography because I kept losing things, the last light of the day, the chaotic silence of nature, someone praying in the corner trying to hide tears from the world. Gone before I'd realized I was remembering it. It helps me capture emotions which people sometimes mask with words.

Half the pull is the solitude itself; my camera gives me a reason to sit alone with my thoughts and call it meditation. The other half is what it takes me to the place of different frequency, that haven't asked for anything yet, and old ones that have already answered everything and gone quiet about it.

I live in Deoghar. One of the twelve Jyotirlingas, one of the fifty-one Shaktipeeths, so I never had to travel far to learn what I was chasing. I go anywhere it shows up; no rule for where, except that it has to be worth the time. People mostly stay out of frame, a stranger's stillness isn't mine, to take without asking.

Still, I'm after the same thing, the silence before the shutter clicks. Writing came much later, when the photos weren't enough to say why I'd stopped walking. I am just trying to narrate a story through photos which others saw but didn't weave.
